CHOOSING ELECTIVES

The following information is designed to lead students and their families through the subject selection process for elective subjects, for students moving from year 9 into year 10 in 2025.

STEP ONE

Understand the difference between Core and Elective Subjects.
Core Subjects

All students are required to study the following core subjects for the entirety of the 2025 school year.

English – 3 Lessons per week
Mathematics – 3 Lessons per week
Science – 3 Lessons per week
Humanities – 3 Lessons per week
Health & Physical Education – 2 Lessons per week
STEP TWO

Explore the elective subject options on offer in 2025.
Electives
Two elective subjects are chosen by students (pending availability) to be studied in addition to the five core subjects described above. The school endeavours to make as many combinations and subjects available to students as possible, and students are given opportunity to provide feedback on available options during a selection trial, held prior to final subject selection.

- Subjects are offered across three lines.
- Students must select one subject on each line.
- No subject can be chosen more than once.
- Health and Physical Education (HPE) must be selected on one of the three lines.

Use the lines and links provided below to explore the options available to students on each line.
STEP THREE

Make your subject selection on OneSchool

Both the subject selection trial and formal subject selection are completed by students on OneSchool. It is important that students meet the strict deadlines on all subject selections, as students may be placed in classes other than their choice, if selections are not completed according to the timelines communicated by the Deputy Principal and Home Group teachers.
